Here’s The Thing, I Don’t Know Everything. Here Are 3 Things TikTok Taught Me.

TikTok

As a content creator, I’ve been making content for TikTok for a couple of years now. As a marketer, I’ve been putting myself into consistent habit of creating content and testing the world out there. Now, I still don’t know the algorithm 100%, and that’s OK. Raise your hand if you can confidently say you’ve “Nailed It.”

People say you need to post 3x’s a day and some say it’s using the right captions and #’s. Yes, we need to pay attention to every word said and written because at the end of the day, all of you content needs to be searchable. SEO should be part of your strategy.

Now, with SEO aside the content for me that has been getting my views is my honesty. Now, I’ve been transitioning from being extremely personal into allowing humor into my daily workplace.

So, let’s get this mixtape started. Let’s talk about TikTok.

  1. Algorithm: Let’s talk social media algorithm. It’s like a constant rollercoaster. One day you’re like “Nailed it!” then the next week it’s pushing those sleeves up and getting yourself dirty because you’re determined to know what the answer is. TikTok to me is the highest rollercoaster at Cedar Point, that’s totally worth the ride, because you get off and say, “Let’s go again!”
  2. Vulnerability: The one thing I love about TikTok is it forces vulnerability and the content creators that are viral, are those that are “real” and “relatable.” My favorite?  Elyse Myers.  If you don’t know, now you know.
  3. Consistency: Being consistent is the key to stay relevant. That’s not just TikTok, that’s all social media channels. That’s just branding in general. If you don’t stay consistent, you’re going to start losing interest in your audience. Start with your content, then work on content schedule. I’ve been practicing my content, once I get my groove a schedule comes easy. Plus, there are tools to help you with that, I can help you with that. The most important takeaway is it should be quality over quantity any day.

So, after all this what have I learned? That it’s OK to be OK or not OK. It is OK to not be perfect. Always be the best version of YOU. That it’s OK to not have a perfect day. That sometimes what YOU have to offer is exactly what people need to see.

What is my big takeaway? We may still be trying to crack the code to get our brand viral. Being viral is a vanity! Goal as a marketer is to tell a story. Make an impact. Get someone to feel what you have to say. Buy the product. Generate emotion.  That’s what TikTok does. Whether you like it or not this platform is doing exactly what businesses are looking for. So don’t be scared, jump in.
